Korean Halo-Halo

I am not sure but that’s how it looks like to me, I’ve seen two middle school student carrying this cup while I am going to the Nonghyup Supermarket few weeks ago.  It’s new to me so after I bought the items I need I went to the freezer and check what’s new, I didn’t waste my time to try this thinking it is a new flavor of ice cream.

But I was wrong, its like halo-halo in Philippine, a popular Filipino dessert that is a mixture of shaved ice and evaporated milk to which are added various boiled sweet beans and fruits, and served in a tall glass or bowl. The difference this cold snack consist only red beans, ice and sugar. It seems Korean love read bean so much because it is always included in any bread or snacks.

Cup and Saucer

This is what I got when I went to Daiso the other week, together with my travel pouch. I bought this for my husband as he is using my coffee cup because I didn’t allow him to use the other cup  in our drawer as it is the souvenir from the gym in Seoul where he worked out.

Actually the cup the I am using for my coffee is also a souvenir because the gym owner gave him two cups, I am not going to use it but he said we have two, so when he wanted to use the second one I objected. So I bought him his own cup with saucer, just right for drinking tea.

He said thank you but he still ended up wanting my cup because he said it is bigger, so the end result the cup and saucer I bought for him still belongs to me.

Krispy Kreme from Seoul

I only know one doughnut shop in Philippines and that is Dunkin Donuts, that’s why when my husband told me about Krispy Kreme I thought it is a new doughnut shop but I was wrong.

Krispy Kreme was founded by Vernon Rudolph on 1937 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, it is an international chain of doughnut stores. The parent company of Krispy Kreme is Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. (NYSE: KKD) and is based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, United States.

My husband told me Krispy Kreme is a way better than Dunkin Donuts, yeah right but it is also a way expensive too. This is my favorite flavor Blueberry and honey glaze. Honey glaze is the signature item of Krispy Kreme and traditionally served warm.

Korean Croquette from Paris Baguette

This is my favorite treat on weekdays Croquette. Croquette is a small fried food roll containing usually as main ingredients mashed potatoes, and/or minced meat (veal, beef, chicken, or turkey), shellfish, fish, vegetables, and soaked white bread, egg, onion, spices and herbs, wine, milk, beer or any of the combination thereof, sometimes with a filling, often encased in breadcrumbs. It is  usually shaped into a cylinder or disk, and then deep-fried.

My favorite is mashed potato, chicken and beef.  The sliced croquette is chicken,  the one in the left is chicken curry and the one in the right is beef, I bought this in Paris Baguette when we I take-out Chinese food.

Croquette (Goroke) is  sold in most bread shops in Korea. The most common type of Goroke are deep fried rolls stuffed with Japcha ingredients or chicken curry. There are also Goroke filled with Kimchi, pork, and sometimes Bulgogi ingredients. Many Koreans stores often advertise the Goroke as a French product and is usually sold in most European style bread stores all over Korea.

Fruits and Vegetables

Photobucket We are now on our third week of juice fasting, after this one more week and then we  can eat soft food other than drinking fresh juice, yeah right we can’t still eat solid foods a week after we’re done.

Fruits and vegetables that’s what we have in our fridge unlike other week where we just shop for fruits yesterday we shopped both.,

We bought fruits like apple which is good for bowel movement, oranges, prunes, plumes, grapes, lemon and plums.

And as usual we bought carrots still in cheaper price, we had beets, cabbage, red and white as well as nappa cabbage, broccoli and three pieces of bell pepper.

Craving for Cookies

I think most of us love cookies especially when there’s hot coffee or milk in the table. Me myself love cookies a lot but I seldom have one in the Philippines as it is expensive for me unlike here cookies are cheaper and they are overflowing because they are always on sale together with the chocolate cream cakes.

Photobucket

That’s my last treat of cookies I forgot anymore how much does it cost but they’re on sale for two box., I wish I know how to make cookies eh.,

For your information of the day  a cookie in the United States and Canada, is a small, flat, baked treat, usually containing fat, flour, eggs and sugar. In most English-speaking countries outside North America, the most common word for this is biscuit; in many regions both terms are used, while in others the two words have different meanings.

Its American name derives from the Dutch word koekje or (informal) koekie which means little cake, and arrived in American English through the Dutch in North America.

Knorr Sinigang Mix and Maggi Magic Sarap in Asian Store

Before shopping to Lotte Super last Friday we first visit Lotte World Mart, they are not connected to each other. The latter is an Asian store that own by a Thai man/family. Most of the products are around Asia specifically Thailand and Vietnam and few products from the Philippines. It is our second visit to the store since we discover it,  our main purposed is to look for buko juice and as well to buy some seasonings for cooking sinigang, frying and etc.,

So here’s what I bought 2 Knorr Sinigang sa Sampalok Mix (Original), 2 Knorr Sinigang  na may Gabi and Maggi Magic Sarap all-in-one seasoning granules, I don’t know how much this cost in Philippines right now but all of these cost W10,000 here or $9.  I guess I can already buy pork in  wet market if I am in Philippines isn’t it?

Photobucket

Unlike those old times if you want to cook sinigang sa sampalok all you need to do is climb a sampalok tree or use santol to make the soup sour but since we are developing country, most of the trees are now cut just to build a house in the certain land, but I guess this seasoning powder/granule is a little easier than climbing a sampalok(tamarind) tree. Lol!

Fruits

PhotobucketFruits. That we have in our fridge in our second week of juice fasting unlike the first week the we shop for vegetables.  Some of the fruits we bought are kiwis, peaches, oranges, grapes, lemon, apples and few vegetables as well,  as usual we bought two bags of carrots (8 kls)  for $10.47  as it is a good deal.

The only thing I don’t like shopping to Lotte Super here in our place is it is quite far that we had to carry heavy shopping bags.

Anyway here are the benefits of eating fruits like:

Kiwi  it is  rich source of vitamins A, C, E, B – complex, calcium, iron and folic acid.

Lime or lemon is the most cultivated citrus fruit with green to yellow colour loaded with vitamins A, C and folate. Juice of lime is good for detoxification and has antioxidant properties.

Orange contains vitamin C, flavanoids, provides pectin and rich in sodium when ripened in sunshine.

Onion Rings and Donuts

I just came to the point that oh my one more hour and I didn’t blog anything yet., I am just quite busy tweaking themes no matter I try to divide my time, I can’t when I am engrossed on what I am doing., oh well just too bad I can’t share anything good today on the food I cook or eat so let me just share the cheats I had few weeks ago.,

Photobucket

I seldom eat junk foods like chips and curls, so mostly when we had a cheat day I run into bread or chocolates but there are times it feels tired eating sweet food and my tongue is longing for something salty and I had this onion rings, my husband all time favorite. Lol

Shopping for Vegetables in Lotte Super

Photobucket

Tomorrow will be the start of our juice fasting but dunno if we can start together because I cooked too much rice and I have to eat one pot of it for one day, which is today. It feels like I am pig, pigging out with the rice I can’t rely with my husband because a cat ate more than he ate rice, 70g of rice per meal that’s what the amount of rice he ate.

Oh well as I have said from my other blogs we shopped for vegetables in Lotte Super, we had a nice deal with carrots 4 kilos for $6 only. As you can see our fridge is full of vegetables and there’s no extra space for our water filter so my husband has no choice but to drink warm water.

Wondering why we shop in different supermarket this time? Oh well we’d done canvassing last week and Kim’s Mart wins as the cheapest deal but we decided to visit Lotte Super yesterday to look for my husband brush for his electronic toothbrush and then we found out the good deal for carrots and we ended shopping all the vegetables we need. The carrots are located in the top and below.,
