Grilling Galbi and Dweji Bulgogi at Home
The other night I have blogged about the fun we had with our new electric grill, we bought two kinds of marinated meat, Pookie bear was the one who put the meat in the electric grill and I am the one who turn it to be cook.
Above is Galbi, a marinated beef short ribs in a ganjang-based sauce (Korean soy sauce). In the Korean language, galbi literally means “rib” and can often indicate uncooked ribs. In addition, the dish’s full name is galbi gui, although “gui” (grilling) is commonly omitted to refer to it.
Above is Dweji bulgogi or Spicy pork bulgogi it is also a popular Korean barbecue dish and it is quite different from beef bulgogi because it is marinated is gochugang (Korean chili powder) and not in soy sauce.
Eating Rice and Gim
There are times I don’t feel like cooking that’s why I love having an instant food at home where I can just heat it in the microwave oven and ready to eat. Unfortunately I don’t like most of the instant food here not just because they are hot and spicy but because I am not used too.
One night I have been hooked up on my online activities when I felt my stomach needs for food, I don’t wanna cook because I will spend a lot of time so I just eat rice and gim. I love eating gim not like before that I almost vomit with the smell. Gim (kim) is a Korean-style edible seaweed in the genus Porphyra, similar to the Welsh-style laver and Japanese-style nori.
Eggs and Kimchi Fried
Aside from cooking Kimchi Fried Rice every night I also cooked this meal, eggs and kimchi. Kind of tiring to cook this meal but is it worth it. I just used white eggs on cooking this meal.
My ingredients:
Eggs, kimchi, garlic, onion, soy sauce, salt, oil
Procedure:
- Saute the garlic and onion
- Put the kimchi, mixed it with the onions and garlic and cooked for few minutes
- Then add the eggs and soy sauce mixed and fried it together
- Seasoned it with salt to taste
- Serve hot.
Are you also eating too much rice?
Most of us eat rice as our everyday meal. How much is enough rice for you? As I am blogging this I am just done eating my dinner (below) and I am just done cooking brown rice and currently cooking white rice. Lol, we cooked two kind of rice, brown for Pookie bear and white for me. We just interchange our skin color,.
Back to my question how big is rice in your plate? Lately I have noticed I frequently cooked rice so I have asked Pookie bear to lie low from eating my white rice because he also eat white rice especially after gym. When he saw my plate, he told me I am the one who is eating too much because he just ate 295 grams of rice for two meal. I was embarrassed upon seeing my plate its a normal size for me but the way I look at it it is for two people. It looks like the mult-vitamin from the hello kitty case is effective, I am having a strong appetite just like the first time I take Pookie bear vitamins when I first arrived here in Korea. I have stopped it when I noticed I always feel hungry and I eat a lot and gained a lot of weight.
So I think I have to stop taking that tablet I am already depressed with my weight and I am now adding more fats to me. Hu-hu
Anyway if you still don’t know rice is a good source of complex carbohydrates and acts as a good source of protein alternatives for meat in a vegetarian diet. It says the increase in rice decreases the intake of meat in the Asian diet. Well I think not to me because I am the only one eating meat here on weekdays.
I have cooked Chicken Kimchi Stew today and as expected Pookie bear ate it and used the soup on his fried white eggs.
Scrambled eggs with tomatoes
Yesterday I have been hooked up to blogging and clicking my paid to click sites after going to Watsons so I forgot to eat my breakfast and lunch. Using the left over tomato in the fridge I fried it with scrambled eggs as I have done cooking I set it aside in our bed as if presenting it to Pookie bear “What is that crap?” he said upon seeing it. I told him it is eggs and tomatoes, he never gives attention to me as I am eating.
After eating my late brunch and early dinner, I continue with my online task and left my left over eggs and tomatoes on top of the microwave oven. When it’s time to eat his meal he tasted the crap, and he likes it so much that he requested me to cook for him on his next meal. That’s why I went out last night to buy tomatoes and soy milk and then headed to Watsons again.
So last night I cooked twice of eggs and tomatoes for him since he wanted more, thrice if mine is included. Pookie bear told me from now on if he said he want special egg for his meal that’s it, tomatoes and eggs. How ironic, that the food he called crap, he is it calling now special, Lol, it is special for him, he doesn’t know “halos mapurga na ako sa kakain niyan sa Pinas” aside from Sardines with “Miswa” or Upo that’s one of our main dish especially in the morning.
Anyway, my ingredients:
eggs, tomatoes, salt, oil, garlic and onions
Procedure:
- Scramble the eggs
- Saute the garlic and onion until brown
- Add the tomatoes and cooked until it tender
- Add the scrambled eggs and mixed it in the pan
Oh wait, I added mono-sodium in my recipe, guess what happened. Pookie bear’s had a headache last night and his sinusitis bothers him. He is allergic to mono-sodium, so no more vetsin next time.
Chicken Kimchi Stew
As what I have said before I love experimenting with food, these past few days I have been tired eating adobo, chicken or pork. I want to try another dish and we have nothing here but kimchi so I tried to cook chicken and kimchi the other day and the result was great. I’m loving it!
Pookie bear says it doesn’t look good, so I told him to try it because it tasted good but he won’t do it because he said he is on a diet. After few hours I found two chicken bones in the sink and then my food container is almost empty, well your guess is right as mine Pookie bear cannot resist the temptation so I told him about his diet he just said he will ate small amount in the evening than the usual amount, he is also using the soup to his scrambled egg. So as of today I have cooked another chicken kimchi stew and someone’s gonna drool over it. Lol!
My ingredients:
Chicken, Kimchi, Salt, Black pepper, Oil, Onion, Garlic, Water
Procedure:
- In a sauce pan or in a pot sauté garlic and onions on cooking oil.
- Add the chicken to the pan. Friend it a little then add the kimchi and stir.
- Add water enough for the chicken to boil.
- Seasoned it with salt and black pepper.
- Wait until the chicken became tender.
- Serve hot with plain rice.
Cooking the best exercise (lol)
Weekend Spaghetti
Oh well don’t sleep four o’clock in the morning and asked your husband to wake you up before three o’clock because he will wake you up few minutes before it.
Anyway last night I had cooked 500g of spaghetti and just on my three(3) meals the pot is empty. Happy pot isn’t it?
Meat Cooked in Spaghetti Sauce
Experimenting in cooking is already part of my life, my mother and I used to experiment food way back in Philippines. What I mean we just cook or sauted any vegetables we harvest from our small back yard garden or sometimes from grandmother’s vegetable garden.
Last night I have cooked a pork with spaghetti sauce. There’s a left over spaghetti sauce from the jar so I used it as my main ingredients. You know here in Korea there’s a lot of ready spaghetti sauce for sale which you don’t need to cook anymore just pour it in the top of hot dumplings or pasta and eating time already.
Anyway this is how I cooked it , first I sauteed onions and the meat the I waited until the meat turns a little brown then I seasoned it with black pepper and salt, after it I pour the small jar of spaghetti sauce which has water already so all the spaghetti sauce will be used then I let it cooked until its done. Presto after it I have eaten my dinner, my husband says it tasted good. Wonder what is the name of this menu.
