Street Cleaning
I went to downtown yesterday to buy frozen chicken breast and kidney beans while waiting for the bus I saw this orange truck cleaning the street, it was so dusty while the truck is blowing the dirt in the road, it was very loud too.
I translated the Korean word 우리국토 아름답게 printed in the truck and it means “Our beautiful land” while 우리교통 편리하게 means “Our Convenient Transportation”.
Alumni Event in Shinha Elementary School
When I wake up this morning I heard a loud sound coming from the school nearby so when I went to the bathroom to pee I opened the window and peep and saw that there are some tents in the school playground of Shinha Elementary School. It looks like they are celebrating an affair, I have no plan of checking what is it, I already took some photos from hallway and I think those are enough.
When my husband wake up blurted that he needs to listen to the loud music the whole day and tease me to check it because he said I am nosy, I didn’t listen and told him that I am not interested though there’s something on me that saying I have to take pictures. Well it happens that we have no toothpaste anymore so I went out and before going to Nonghyup Supermarket near Shinha Elementary School I took some pictures first at the gate.
I saw some men wearing an orange shirt probably their uniform, I didn’t walk further anymore I just zoomed my camera and took pictures of the tent, I was a bit shy for being nosy. Haha
When I translate 신히조등학교 종동문 it turns out they are celebrating alumni, I am not sure but it looks like it was alumni of male students.
Korean Fashion: New Hair Trend
The new hair trend today in Korea is Cleopatra’s hair, where ever we go most girls especially middle school students has a long black straight hair with bangs, like Cleopatra’s hair. I would like to take photo of them but I don’t know how to do it without their knowing, hehe
Not sure when does it started but we just walk out of the street one day seeing girls with the same hair-cut, hmm probably they have the same hair parlor eh.
Busy Life and Unhealthy Eating
I finally moved out from level 65 in Candy Crush Saga but was stuck again in level 70. I don’t why I still keep playing this game when I know that instead of relaxation it is adding more stress to me.

Anyway as I am quite busy online I forgot to eat my dinner again, left no choice as my husband already ate the left over dumplings I boiled two eggs and eat with rice. My husband was disgusted when I pour oil and dashed of salt on my rice, he says I am going to get higher cholesterol level and possibly heat attack from my unhealthy eating.
Colorful Lanterns on Buddha’s Birthday
I went to downtown the other day to pay the bills and I was surprised to see the colorful lanterns adorning the street, from there I know Buddha’s birthday is coming soon.
Buddha’s birthday is a public holiday in Korea, it is the birthday of the Prince Siddhartha Gautama and traditionally celebrated in Mahayana Buddhism.
In Korea the birthday of Buddha is celebrated according to the Lunisolar calendar. This day is called 석가탄신일 (Seokga tansinil), meaning “Buddha’s birthday” or 부처님 오신 날 (Bucheonim osin nal) meaning “the day when the Buddha came”. Lotus lanterns cover the entire temple throughout the month which are often flooded down the street. On the day of Buddha’s birth, many temples provide free meals and tea to all visitors. The breakfast and lunch provided are often sanchae bibimbap.

My First Glance of Spring this Year
I think spring is well love by every one, flowers and cherry blossoms are in every corner of the street. The photo below is my first glance of spring here in our place, it was taken near the Paris Baguette bakery when I bought some baked goods the other day. I would love to have my picture taken but that is impossible unless I climbed to the wall. Haha
The cherry blossoms nearby are not yet blooming, probably I have to wait few more days before I can have a picture with it. I have asked my husband few weeks ago if we can return to the city hall because there’s a lot of cherry blossoms in the walkway.
Aparment in Shinha-ri
Before my husband accepted the new offer of the company he is working with, we visit first the school and the neighborhood to see if it is okay to live around like if there are shops, gym and other amenities around. We found a lot of luxury apartment in the neighborhood and we are hoping we could stay in any of them as the the company directors asked my husband if what type of apartment we want, is it house or officetel or what they called condotel.
So when we found that the neighborhood is friendly in terms of open access to everything my husband accepted the job and few days after his old contract expired we move to Shinha-ri.
Icheon City Hall
We went to Icheon City Hall today to report the change of our address. It should be included when we renew our visa in Suwon immigration but when the immigration officer noticed that we didn’t transfer yet she didn’t allow us to change our address. Instead she told us to return after 14 days to report it but my husband think it is too much hassle to travel to Suwon just to report the address change he asked for an alternative and the immigration officer told us to go to the city hall to report it.
At first my husband doesn’t want to report it because he said it is going to be his last year in Korea as he is not planning to renew his contract anymore and eying to move to another country. The problem though I have to return to Suwon immigration next month after I got my new passport from the embassy as I just renew a day ago, and I also told my husband as what I have heard from Filipino Korean wives that unable to report the address changes will cost a fine of KRW 5,000,000 which I think very costly.
Well I thought I knew where is Icheon City Hall so we took bus #8 from Shinha-ri and get off at the front of the “city hall” in front of the big stadium but it turns out it is not the city hall it is an Art Hall. With the help of the map handed to us by the immigration officer we are able to find the city hall we just went the main street and turn right and walk straight when we reached the intersection Buak-ru we turn left and about five minutes we found the Police Station and the city hall.
As my husband’s co-teacher instruction we went to #3 desk and informed the woman what we want. We are given a form to fill-up like the application form in the immigration and we returned it to her with our ARC when we are done, we waited for few minutes and we had our ARC with new address written at the back.
The city hall was very friendly and relaxing it is more like of a library, garden and spa’s waiting area unlike the city hall in the Philippines which is too noisy and crowded sometimes.
Meeting a Friend in Seoul
These past few days I am not that active online anymore, I spend most of my time in the open forum reading stories and problems that’s why most of my blogs are not well updated because of my new habit. I want to go back online, do my task and design the themes but I am not always on the mood, I can’t focus probably because I am still trying to fit here in our new place.
Anyway I am going to the embassy in Seoul this Thursday to renew my passport and I will also make use the time to meet my friend in Seoul it was been a long time since the last time we met, probably two years have been past since our last meeting.
So I’ll be away for the whole day, my biggest problem right now is how to wake up early in the morning because I have to be in Seoul very early for my embassy appointment. I have to take a bus which takes one hour and a subway so I can reach our meeting point.
Moving to Shinha-ri
Few more days and we are going to move, we already visited the new apartment in Shinha the other day. Sunhee the company director fetch us, so we could see it. At first glance it look smaller than our apartment here, if given a choice I would still choose our apartment here in downtown. I already built a bond with our apartment, I love every corner of it.
Our things are already packed and ready to go, this is all what we accumulated in three years leaving in Icheon, when we first arrived in this City from Seoul all we had is one big box and two big bags and now see what we got.
Anyway the good thing of the new apartment is it is on the 4th floor. No more unexpected visitor because I just had a little phobia from doorbell sound, but it does not matter anyway if you are not going to be around all day.
