Gimbap Rolls

As what I have said on my previous blog I am going to Seoul tomorrow to meet a cousin of mine, I am a little nervous like I am always be on meeting someone.  Darn I am really that anti-social that I am not used of meeting people alone. I can’t carry Pookie bear with me because he has a class to teach so I have to face my social fear alone, this a another step to got the changes I am wishing for, remember Ate Mhel’s contest?

Anyway every time we are going to Seoul I will never forgot to buy gimbap rolls in the restaurants in the terminal especially if I didn’t eat anything at home before leaving, so I am looking forward for another set of this tomorrow.

Not a very good day …

I am not feeling well today and it is my fault. I have been hooked up using my laptop everyday and because of that I am too lazy to eat my meals. Yesterday I did not eat any rice I was too busy tweaking a new template to my other blog, when I wake up Pookie bear made a cup of coffee for me and strawberry/peanut butter sandwich (that’s how sweet he is sometimes especially if he want to experiment something on my drink) it was my brunch, then in the evening I just ate two pieces of chocolate and a bread rolls which I bought from Kim’s Mart last night too in spite of the cold temperature outside I went out to buy some stuffs.
I can’t sleep well last night my stomach  and my back is bothering me so I wake us early as ten o’clock to cook rice and fried some egg plant. I have eaten already and now drinking a cup of hot coffee but my back is still bothering  me plus my eyes feel blurry. I don’t wanna go the gym tonight but I don’t think Pookie bear will believe me because we always had a kind of tug of war every time we go to the gym. Hoping I am going to feel better tomorrow because I am going to meet my cousin in Seoul, she’s gonna be there to claimed her passport so she asked me if we can meet, I don’t know what will happen this will be the first time meeting/talking to her because they lived in a different province in Philippines ‘we have met before but no bonding at all because I am still young and she’s older so she’s always with our older cousin, we also had a misunderstanding last year  that brought a lot of tears to me. It feels so awkward meeting her but I have to do it so my other relatives will not say I am being boastful or other term for it.

Chicken Kimchi Stew on Weekend

Hi everyone I am too busy last night, after gym I’ve done two loads of laundry and cook two kinds of dishes, my Chicken Kimchi Stew and Pookie bear’s egg. When I am finally finished I am able to eat my dinner and this is what left on

one whole piece of chicken after I ate three pieces of it.  Someone already had a party while the soup is hot. Your right Pookie bear almost ate the whole chicken, he even exclaimed it is very hot(spicy) when the soup touches his throat, because I think I put too much kimchi.

Spooky Morning

We’re sleeping last night this morning when suddenly Pookie bear rise up “Did you hear that?” I said yes, he actually thought I am the one making noise but I told him it was not me when we heard the noise again. He asked me to turn on the light because I am near in the switch but I am darn scared that I hide inside my thick blanket especially he keep saying that it is coming from my side. A little pissed off of me by acting like a baby  he get off the bed to turn on the light in our room trying to figure out where the noise coming from. As both of our eyes are into my “rubbish” beside my bed we have found out it is my pink bag that’s making noise it is slowly falling from the top of the box into the floor touching my other stuff from behind. Pookie bear told me to clean my stuff today, well I did but there’s still more in the floor like my pen holder, candy box and jar, knapsack and my box full of junk (notebooks, paper, pamphlets, photo books, pictures and etc.,) .
I am just too lazy sometimes that I just put my camera, batteries, head phone, coin purse, bags, box of cookies or chocolate in the floor so whenever I sit in the floor while doing my task I will just grab it without standing.

Sauted Mongo Sprout

This is my version of Sauted Mongo Sprout or Bean’s Sprout as Pookie bear called it. I missed eating vegetables, its our normal food in Philippines. We only ate meat when we had extra money for it, anyway  I wish to buy another head of squash last weekend but it’s darn expensive for one meal, so when I’ve seen this sprouted mongo I grabbed it.

My ingredients:

Sprouted Mongo, pieces of pork, lettuce, onion, garlic, salt and water.

Procedure:

  1. Saute garlic and onion until brown.
  2. Add the meat and fry it for few minutes
  3. Add water
  4. Add the sprouted beans (mongo)
  5. Wait until it boiled and add the lettuce and seasoned it with salt.
Yeah, you heard it right, I used lettuce because that’s the only present leafy vegetable inside our fridge left over from the meat sandwich we had on weekend.  I did not add soy sauce on my menu which is usually in Sprouted Mongo menu. Well I had a burped after I ate.,solved.

Chicken Kimchi Stew

As what I have said before I love experimenting with food, these past few days I have been tired eating adobo, chicken or pork. I want to try another dish and we have nothing here but kimchi so I tried to cook chicken and kimchi the other day and the result was great. I’m loving it!

Chicken Kimchi Stew

Pookie bear says it doesn’t look good, so I told him to try it because it tasted good but he won’t do it because he said he is on a diet. After few hours I found two chicken bones in the sink  and then my food container is almost empty, well your guess is right as mine Pookie bear cannot resist the temptation so I told him about his diet he just said he will ate small amount in the evening than the usual amount, he is  also using the soup to his scrambled egg. So as of today I have cooked another chicken kimchi stew and someone’s gonna drool over it. Lol!

My ingredients:

Chicken, Kimchi, Salt, Black pepper, Oil, Onion, Garlic, Water

Procedure:

  • In a  sauce pan or in a pot sauté garlic and onions on cooking oil.
  • Add the chicken to the pan. Friend it a little then add the kimchi and stir.
  • Add water enough for the chicken to boil.
  • Seasoned it with salt and black pepper.
  • Wait until the chicken became  tender.
  • Serve hot with plain rice.

My reading habit and DubaiSally

It says reading make us knowledgeable and smart but I think it depends on the kind of reading material we are reading. In my case I don’t read books or other learning paraphernalia’s what I read is all about news, cases, entertainment and gossips. Haha, well I am not that gossiper  if it is the right term for “tsismosa” it is my only way to have news about our beloved Philippines. But there are times I feel tired reading those online news because most of the headlines are toll hike, fare hike, gasoline hike. Killings, floods and etc., in my eyes Philippines is now a very dangerous country especially all I read is a son/daughter kill his/her father and mother and etc, holdup with murder, kidnap for ransom is just a normal thing to read in every news paper. Anyway on the contrary I think I also learned things by reading online at least my eyes are open on what is happening, at first I thought our Province is peaceful no mafia’s or groups or whatever they called it but darn I am so wrong.  So they are right reading make us more knowledgeable and aware on our surrounding.

Anyway last night I was not able to visit all of you because I am stuck again in this reading habit while I am reading an online news paper I have found out there’s a famous blogger named DubaiSally why famous because she is all over newspapers. So I have to read all her posts last night, by the way she is like us a blogger who express her thought online the only difference her blog is her diary about her work and life. A short information she is a Filipina maid in Dubai who blogged her daily life with her Ma’am. Just visit her page and for sure you are going to be entertain and somehow be touched with her life.

Other thought she is fake but no matter what it is worth visiting. So giddiyap and take a look at True Life Story of Filipina Maid in Dubai.

Philpost: Philippine Postal Corporation Untrusted

There’s only thing not to trust in Philippine Postal Corporation (Philpost) that it is our mail or parcel. I have ordered a Sport Metal Watch from Artscow last December and guess what? The envelope arrives yesterday but the watch did not, what the heck what’s the use of the envelope, for toilet paper? The envelope was open right where it was pasted so damn cool isn’t it. Dunno what happened to the watch maybe a cool guy  is wearing it even the watch has a photo of somebody. Lol, yes it is a personalized watch my Christmas gift to my father so it has a photo of him.

The open envelope

What a shame, for sure the watch was stolen by philpost employees unless there’s other people who segregate and transport our mails and parcels. Just a question does our mail need to be delivered house to house or just give it other people and be delivered to us? That’s how its works in our province those barangay which are 15-30 minutes away from town the post man just gave the mail to jeepney drivers or look for someone who knows the person and darn your mail is free and in express delivery. Just be lucky if nobody got interested with it.

This is how it works before the mails are delivered in our place they were delivered first in San Pablo Laguna for segregating and then to our province. The enveloped my mother had received has no stamp of “Received torn or open” from postal office from Laguna or our from our local postal office. So when they asked why it is open and empty and then no stamp of being received open and torn the postal office just says “They didn’t noticed it” what does it mean they’re just stamping and stamping without checking if the mails or parcels they are stamping are open or torn. “Good job! Clap your hands on the air”. If postal office employees has this reason every time a parcel was missing no wonder it is nowhere to be found. So who’s the real culprit, and where it gone missing the postal employees who segregated the mails when it arrive to Philippines or the mail man who gave it to other people or the person who received it  and handed to our house or maybe a ghost?

Anyway I think Philpost needs to changed their promotional banner below, because it does not correspond on what they offered, it is not safe and it is not express either. Just remember the postal delivery van hijacked somewhere in the Philippinnes, that’s what they called safe when things are being stolen express because they don’t deliver it to you but giving them to other people to be delivered right to your house.

Anyway this situation did not happened just once in our family, as far as I remember my aunt from Germany sends a registered mail to us and guess what happened we didn’t received that mail. We only noticed it when my mother received a second mail asking if we received a registered mail. So my mother and grand mother went to office to ask about it and guess what they found out, the registered mail was given to another personwho happens with the same name with my mother but the case was she is not married with her husband so she doesn’t bear the same family name with us, anyway I think her husband or common-law partner is our distant relative. The big deal about the registered mail was it has Euro on it and as far as I remember the post office was also the one who change it into local currency.  Great job!So upon the complaint the post office ask the “lucky receiver” to show themselves in the post office and bring all the letters they received. And guess what even my grandparent’s letter from Tarlac was also delivered to them and of course it was also opened when handed to us. We don’t know what else they received before the mistake was discovered. Funny isn’t it?  That’s how express our mail delivered by number one and trusted Philpost. So are you going to trust this kind of service or just the same reason “No choice”.

No to Mining, Save Tablas!

I think this is a hot sensation in Romblon especially in Tablas I just saw  in Facebook that some fellow Odionganon members changed their profile pictures into these photo (below). As an appeal to stop the proposed GOLD / COPPER / SILVER mining in Tablas Island.

“CALLING ALL CONCERNED CITIZENS OF ROMBLON, PLEASE, PLEASE, LET US ALL JOIN OUR HANDS TO END THIS THREAT TO OUR PLACE BEFORE IT BEGINS! OR ELSE, WE WILL ALL BE DOOMED. OUR NATIVE LAND WILL BE PUT INTO DEVASTATION! “
This photo shows (above) the future mining site for Copper, Gold, Silver, Etc. by Ivanhoe Mining Corp. The proposed mining area shall cover the following barangays: 60% of barangay Camili’s land area, Bonlao, San Roque, Tugdan & Calagonsao of Alcantara, Romblon; Concepcion Sur, Talamban (San Isidro) & Paroyhog of Santa Maria, Romblon; 85% of Pato-o’s land area, Rizal & Progreso Este of Odiongan and barangay Limon Norte of Looc, Romblon (and still spreading). LET US SAVE OUR PROVINCE AND OUR FUTURE!

I got all those details in a Facebook page No Mining On Tablas Island so if you want to participate and help the advocacy just visit the page.

As far as I can see 85% of some  Barangay are subjective to mining, darn I know it. Lol, anyway I just heard some old hearsay that there’s gold in our Province like the golden boat and etc., It says Romblon is the center of Philippines and the golds of Japanese are varied there. Good to hear that Barangay  Pato-o was the first one who objected the said proposed mining:

  Sep 10, 2010:
“Pato-o, a poor barangay in Odiongan takes a stand against a multi-billion dollar Canadian company passing “Anti Mining” Resolution #11 of 2010. Pato-o Barangay Councilors and Captain Louie Fabello unanimously approve the resolution and should be praised for such a strong response. Contact Brgy. Captain Louie and thank him for his barangay’s stand against mining.

But the sad part:

Nov 15, 2010:
Response from DENR Mines and Geosciences Bureau Director, calling the Pato-o Anti-Mining Resolution “inconsistent with the national policy”.
Copied from Romblon Post written by Mr. Fred Fabila.

Help us to save Tablas, Help us to save Romblon Province and the future generation!

Sweet Potato Cakes

I just noticed food here in Korea are more healthy rather than the food in Philippines, teheee. Anyway example is cup cakes, haha I never know that there is cup cake made in sweet potato all I know is chocolate and cheese in Philippines, pardon me but I seldom eat cup cakes in our country. But I guess there is nothing impossible here they even have a sweet potato pizza so how more a cup cake?

Anyway when we arrived here in Korea in Bangladesh and we shopped I have found that boxes of cup cakes and chocolate cakes are on sale so I grab a few, thinking to send them home again to my family.

But it is so hard to resist a temptation, I am seeing them every time and I keep fighting my urge not to open and eat them but just tonight I lost, hmmp because of Pookie bear instead of telling me not to eat he keeps tempting me to eat the final blow when he said, “Eat it you are not going to send it right away so you can just buy again another time” so the dork me got the scissors and boom it is open so while typing this I am enjoying sweet potato cup cake and a cup of coffee.
