Happy Anniversary to Mom & Dad!

Yesterday November 16, it was my parents-in law anniversary. The task to send a card is on me,  so instead of sending an e-card from yahoo greetings I made a specialized one. I thought my husband will like it, but on my dismay he didn’t.  He told me I can send my card and he will send another one for him (lol), he didn’t approve the photo why his nephew is in the picture because it’s Mom and Dad’s anniversary.  I told him that’s all I got, I don’t have any picture of Mom and Dad except the one they just sent on me taken in their trailer.  So I explained to him what is my picture all about, in their 42 years together that’s what they got. Two sons with their own family and two nephews from their older son, I am really into hidden message or picture message.

Again Happy Anniversary to Mom & Dad!

The background I used was the photo taken in Hahoe Folk Village here in Korea.  So I send my card, didn’t see him send his card because in the end he didn’t oppose me anymore in my idea. Anyway Mom and Dad like it, they said it is a great card. That’s what counts…

Street in Korea at night

Just feeling lazy today. I have remember its Tuesday today and the day for redness as in the color of love and not war. I browse the files of my photo and this is what I see, a red car in the street. Our neighbor owns it, not us. At late  night here in Korea it is normal to see a lot of cars and vans park in the side street. It is not very late when I took this photo that’s why there’s only few cars parked. Maybe the people are still at work or having a good time drinking soju, Korean beer.

I am fascinated with dolls

I am just fascinated with dolls…what the heck when I am already old and I am into dolls? When I was young never played with a lot of dolls, I had one barbie doll but a cousin of mine bite the feet of it makes it invalid, a disable doll. I also had two little dolls after it a present from a relative who worked abroad mother side when they visit on my grandparent’s house in Tarlac we stayed there when I was young. Never play with them, my mother says I need to take care of them because they are from abroad means original so I am just contented looking at them on display (lol). I was able to play with them, sew clothes and give them a bath when the clothes of the barbie tear off because of being stocked for a long time that was the time my mother allow me to removed them from their place. But after it they remain on display again and waiting for someone to play with them.
When we still lived in my mother’s hometown my toys are cars and water guns. My grand father bought them for me as what I requested because most of the old kids are boys, and me a copy cat want to have a car, gun and kite too. Lol!  Anyway I would love to collect dolls when money permits me, lol. Below are photo taken in our favorite Chinese restaurant here in our place, favorite because we always ordered some food there when we like to eat Chinese. I also have my own Chinese doll, got it as souvenir when we went to China. You can take a peep on how it looks like here.

My loot on Pepero Day

Yesterday was Pepero Day so when I opened pookie bear’s bag I found some boxes of pepero. His student gave them to him and he gave them all to me.

Pepero I got from him, he bought me a box of pepero when he went out one night to buy a small bottle of coke for me. The first one is the pepero we bought when we shopped the other day.

My chocolates and candies, all keep in one container. The pepero stick at the top is a new addition, when  pookie bear went home today he had it in one had, from student I guess.

Happy Pepero Day!

Beginning of November you can already see a lot chocolates in the store especially these red chocolate box in the photo as celebration to Pepero Day, it is an observance in South Korea similar to Valentine’s Day. It is named after the Korean snack Pepero and held on November 11, since the date “11/11” resembles four sticks of Pepero. The holiday is observed mostly by young people and couples, who exchange Pepero sticks, other candies, and romantic gifts. Lotte denies starting the holiday and instead states that they noticed a bump in Pepero sales around November 11th and after continued popularity they decided to then encourage the holiday with special gift boxes and other promotions. Some consider it to be a contrived holiday and some teachers have encouraged children to exchange healthy snacks to help combat obesity.  Pepero and held on November 11, since the date “11/11” resembles four sticks of Pepero.

An alternative “Garaetteok Day” – sticks of white tteok – has been proposed in its stead. According to one story, Pepero Day was started in 1994 by students at a girls’ middle school in Busan, where they exchanged Pepero sticks as gifts to wish one another to grow “as tall and slender as a Pepero”.

In Japan, a similar Pocky Day was started however it has failed to gain traction.

Pepero is a cookie stick, dipped in chocolate syrup, manufactured by Lotte Confectionery in South Korea since 1983. It was inspired by the Japanese product, Pocky produced by Glico. In Philippines we called it Pretzel?? Err I forgot it already..help anyone…?

Molds attack

I had a busy day today. It is cold here as fall season start and problem starts too, molds. Sometimes I wonder why Koreans love to use wall paper on their home when mold developed when fall and winter came. I think it is a cheap and good idea just to use paint rather than wall paper because if you use paint it will last long and you don’t need to change every year when molds attack.
So today my husband decided to rip the small portion of wall paper in our kitchen and wife to the rescue to clean it and in order to make the wall dry my husband use the heater we got from Seoul. We use bleach to clean the mold in the wall, my husband old student says vinegar can also help to clean mold in wall paper I guess they are right because here’s what I found online on how to clean the mold in wall paper.

Things You’ll Need:
  • Distilled white vinegar
  • Bucket
  • Spray bottle
  • Tea tree oil
  • Sponge
  • Rubber gloves
  • Soft cloth
  1. Mix together a cleaning solution of 1 cup water and 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar. Pour this solution into a bucket or a spray bottle. Alternatively, you can mix together 1 drop of tea tree oil and 1 cup of water for your cleaning solution.
  2. Mist a clean sponge with the solution, or dip the sponge into the bucket and wring it out thoroughly. Wear rubber gloves to protect your hands while cleaning the walls.
  3. Rub the sponge onto the molded area to clean, and gently scrub away the mold. Test the mixture in an inconspicuous area, such as behind a door or in a corner of the room, to make sure the solution won’t damage your wallpaper. If the wallpaper is unharmed, continue to the rest of the room.
  4. Move the sponge in small circles, and do not soak the wallpaper. It should be damp but not too wet.
  5. Wipe the wall off with a damp sponge dipped in clean water, and dry with a soft cloth. Allow the wall to air dry before washing again. Continue until you have removed the mold.
