The Red Lanterns

This photo was taken last weekend when we went to Seoul to watch the Lotus Lantern Festival, see the full story here.

You can see a different color, sizes and styles of lantern during the Festival, it is an event you wouldn’t miss.

It’s a bird! No, it’s a plane!

Guess what? It’s a man-shape orifice hanging on top. This picture was taken last Saturday in N-Seoul Tower, hubby and I visited the tower first before going to the Lotus Lantern Festival. Actually he already visited the tower once but on my request to be at the tower too he brought me there.

For your information N Seoul Tower is a communication and observation tower located in Namsan Mountain, central Seoul, South Korea. It was built in 1969, and opened to the public in 1980, the tower has been a symbol of Seoul and measures 236.7 m (777 ft) in height (from the base) and tops out at 479.7 m (1,574 ft) above sea level. It has also been known as the Namsan Tower or Seoul Tower. After the tower’s original owner merged with the CJ Corporation, it was renamed the N Seoul Tower (official name CJ Seoul Tower).

As you can see the sky was so clear that day, can’t find any clouds.

Lotus Lantern Festival

Happy Yellow Monday everyone, we just returned in time that I can post a blog. We went to Seoul this weekend for a short vacation and watch the Lotus Lantern Festival.  I was not able to get online in two days because the wi-fi service in the second floor of the hostel is not working, feeling so tired to go to the lobby to get online.
If you want to see more pictures of the lanterns visit The Traveler’s Journey

Noah’s Ark

Last night as I am reading online a certain news caught my attention it is all about Noah’s Ark, do you believe in the bible? Do you believed that God really ask Noah to build an ark? Anyway either you believed or not here’s what the article says there’s a group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical explorers who believed that they may have found Noah’s Ark — four thousand metres up a mountain in Turkey.
The team say they recovered wooden specimens from a structure on Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey that carbon dating proved was 4,800 years old, around the same time the ark is said to have been afloat.
“It’s not 100 percent that it is Noah’s Ark but we think it is 99.9 percent that this is it,” Yeung Wing-cheung, a Hong Kong documentary filmmaker and member of the 15-strong team from Noah’s Ark Ministries International told AFP.
The structure had several compartments, some with wooden beams, which were believed to house animals, he said.
The group of evangelical archaeologists ruled out an established human settlement on the grounds that one had never been found above 3,500 metres in the vicinity, Yeung said.
Local Turkish officials will ask the central government in Ankara to apply for UNESCO World Heritage status so the site can be protected while a major archaeological dig is conducted, Yeung added.
The biblical story says God decided to flood the earth after seeing how corrupt it had become, and told Noah to build an ark and fill it with two of every animal species.
After the flood waters receded, the Bible says, the ark came to rest on a mountain. Many believe that Mount Ararat, the highest point in the region, is where the ark and her inhabitants came aground

Throne in the Hall of Central Harmony

I just thought of joining Mellow Yellow Monday for the first time, I’ve seen this meme on some blogs along time ago but I don’t have enough time to join, and just today I’ve thought of joining when I visited Ateh Vernz blog and see her entry.
Anyway this photo was taken last August during our visit in China, this is inside the Forbidden City. This is the throne in the Hall of Central Harmony. It is one of the three halls of the Outer Court of the Forbidden City, in Beijing, China, along with the Hall of Supreme Harmony and Hall of Preserving Harmony. It is smaller than the other two halls, and is square in shape. It is used by the Emperor to prepare and rest before and during ceremonies.

Trivia:
Yellow is the color of the Emperor. Thus almost all roofs in the Forbidden City bear yellow glazed tiles. There are only two exceptions. The library at the Pavilion of Literary Profundity had black tiles because black was associated with water, and thus fire-prevention. Similarly, the Crown Prince’s residences have green tiles because green was associated with wood, and thus growth.
This is my first entry for Mellow Yellow Monday, to join just visit here:

Best Western Vision Hotel

We are now staying at Vision Hotel or Best Western Vision Hotel. This is one of the most popular hotels here in Seoul, South Korea. We book our hotel accommodations few days ago.
The hotel offers great rooms with a wide array of room facilities. The hotel is clean and good, it is also few minutes walk from and to Wangsimi station. Other than the bigger mall at the station there’s also a shopping mall just located at the back of the Hotel, where you can see a lot of restaurants to eat.
Our plan is to stay here for only two nights before moving to Yongin and then moved again to Icheon to our new apartment. Just few hours ago we book our additional three nights of stay here online, because we thought of too much things to carry and the hotel is good. Why we book it online when we are already here in the hotel? It is because it is much cheaper to book online rather than to walk-in.

Suwon experience

Last Friday we went to Suwon Immigration to change hubby’s work address and extend our stay here in Korea. His new director met us Gaumbeong Station and drive us to Suwon with other English teacher, Jezzz., when we arrived in there, there’s already a lot of people waiting, our number was 43 and the current number in the counter was 05, we waited too long especially when someone has a lot of file of visa application.
Suwon is about two hours from our place by train, that’s why we woke very early last Friday. It is much faster at Seoul Immigration than in Suwon Immigration. It was really slow.,

Our Backpacks

Getting ready to Sri Lanka, nine more days before Christmas, after our visit at International Clinic at Itaewon last Saturday we went shopping We shopped I mean we bought bakpacks for us to carry to Sri Lanka, hubby decided to buy backpack because he is getting tired carrying his big luggage with wheels (lol) and I know partly he want me to carry my own bag. There are a lot of shops along the streets but only few had backpacks mostly our bags with strolley or even there are backpacks it doesn’t fit our taste. So until we end at this one shop they have a big sale the backpack originally cost W95,000 dropped to W45,000 my husband was already convince to buy that one but I disagree when he wants to buy two of them because it is the same color and style, I want something different but unfortunately that’s all they have so we went to the other shop beside it and pomise to return i we don’t find any. At the new shop we found what we are looking for but there is a feeling that I want too see more, I was pissed off when my hubby was too eager to buy right that time, maybe he was tired walking and looking. The original price of the bag was W45,000 but the lady dropped it to W30,000 maybe because she saw me really pissed off because at first he said W40,000. I have said yes to my husband because I thought he is going to choose different style but when the lady packed the bags he choose same style with me but different color. I feel a little bit annoyed and tell him, hmmmp, I want our bags not in the same style. , in the end I have thought I think it looks good that we have the same bag, right?

Seoul Subway

Magok Station

The Seoul Metropolitan Subway, in Seoul, South Korea, is one of the most heavily used rapid transit systems in the world, with well over 8 million trips daily on the system’s eleven lines (total figures for Seoul Metro, Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation & Korail commuter lines). The system serves Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi-do and northern Chungcheongnam-do. There is a connection (not a free transfer) to the Incheon International Airport Railroad (A’REX) at Gimpo Airport Station on Line 5 and a free transfer with the single-line Incheon Subway system at Bupyeong on Seoul Subway Line 1. Over 70% of the total metro track length is underground.

All directional signs in the Seoul Subway are written in both Korean and English. Station signs and some maps also display traditional Chinese. The pre-recorded voice announcement in the trains indicating the upcoming station, possible line transfer and exiting side are all in Korean followed by English, and in some cases Japanese then Chinese. All directional signs in the Seoul Subway are written in both Korean and English. Welcome to Pato-o, Odiongan

This way is going to our barangay. That’s the only part cemented, this is still part of Barangay Poctoy.

We are now here in Barangay Pato-o, the biggest barangay in town of Odiongan. Road here is not yet cemented, so sometimes when I walked home from school my school shoes torned easily.

Little by little the road of Barangay Pato-o became cemented, just some part of it.

This picture is taken before the Barangay Fiesta, volleybal competition beside the Barangay Captain house open field.
