I think this is a hot sensation in Romblon especially in Tablas I just saw in Facebook that some fellow Odionganon members changed their profile pictures into these photo (below). As an appeal to stop the proposed GOLD / COPPER / SILVER mining in Tablas Island.
“CALLING ALL CONCERNED CITIZENS OF ROMBLON, PLEASE, PLEASE, LET US ALL JOIN OUR HANDS TO END THIS THREAT TO OUR PLACE BEFORE IT BEGINS! OR ELSE, WE WILL ALL BE DOOMED. OUR NATIVE LAND WILL BE PUT INTO DEVASTATION! “
This photo shows (above) the future mining site for Copper, Gold, Silver, Etc. by Ivanhoe Mining Corp. The proposed mining area shall cover the following barangays: 60% of barangay Camili’s land area, Bonlao, San Roque, Tugdan & Calagonsao of Alcantara, Romblon; Concepcion Sur, Talamban (San Isidro) & Paroyhog of Santa Maria, Romblon; 85% of Pato-o’s land area, Rizal & Progreso Este of Odiongan and barangay Limon Norte of Looc, Romblon (and still spreading). LET US SAVE OUR PROVINCE AND OUR FUTURE!
I got all those details in a Facebook page No Mining On Tablas Island so if you want to participate and help the advocacy just visit the page.
As far as I can see 85% of some Barangay are subjective to mining, darn I know it. Lol, anyway I just heard some old hearsay that there’s gold in our Province like the golden boat and etc., It says Romblon is the center of Philippines and the golds of Japanese are varied there. Good to hear that Barangay Pato-o was the first one who objected the said proposed mining:
Sep 10, 2010:
“Pato-o, a poor barangay in Odiongan takes a stand against a multi-billion dollar Canadian company passing “Anti Mining” Resolution #11 of 2010. Pato-o Barangay Councilors and Captain Louie Fabello unanimously approve the resolution and should be praised for such a strong response. Contact Brgy. Captain Louie and thank him for his barangay’s stand against mining.“
But the sad part:
Nov 15, 2010:
Response from DENR Mines and Geosciences Bureau Director, calling the Pato-o Anti-Mining Resolution “inconsistent with the national policy”.

Help us to save Tablas, Help us to save Romblon Province and the future generation!
