Korean Supermarket in Icheon

The weather today is very hot so I decided to put sunblock  before going out. I have to go to the bank to pay our internet, electricty and gas bill. I also need to go to downtown Icheon to buy cans of kidney beans and frozen chicken breast in the supermarket at the back of Lotte Super.

There’s kidney beans at the Lotte Super in Shinha-ri but it wasn’t good like the one in the red cans, and their frozen chicken too are bit expensive than what we usually buy when we are still living in Changjeon-dong.  I took bus #8 going to downtown and went out in the bus stop near the terminal. I walked a little and it is already the supermarket, I went in and went out.  I saw group of women talking out loud at the next street I am sure they are not local, anyway I just walked to the street where I came from I could get to the bus stop near the World Food Mart.

We are now shopping at this mart because it less expensive than Lotte Super, I think we already shop to all the supermarket around Icheon downtown of course except for Happy Mart which is way too far.

While waiting to cross the street to the bus stop the group of women came, I am not sure if they are my countrymen or not so I just take a quick look to them I think nobody even notice me except for one of them, I am about to cross the street when I heard them talking in our local langauge.  They are Filipina indeed, was bit too late because I already run to safety, I mean to the next street because cars and delivery trucks are already coming.

Less than a minute the bus came and that’s how my short trip to Icheon downtown ended,  before going home I stopped at Paris Baguette to buy garlic baguette.

Egg Tomato Salad

This is my poor man’s version  of egg tomato salad. It was getting late and I didn’t eat my lunch yet, cooking will take time so I boiled eggs and cut one tomato from the fridge, mixed them together with salt and ready to eat.

Egg Tomato Salad

Eating with raw tomato in the table is the food I missed in the Philippines, we ate tomato most of the time. It is my family favorite side dish in partner with fried fish, meat and even eggs.

Street Cleaning

I went to downtown yesterday to buy frozen chicken breast and kidney beans while waiting for the bus I saw this orange truck cleaning the street, it was so dusty while the truck is blowing the dirt in the road, it was very loud too.

Street Cleaning

I translated the Korean word 우리국토 아름답게 printed in the truck and it means  “Our beautiful land” while 우리교통 편리하게 means “Our Convenient Transportation”.

Microwave Baked Apple

My husband has been telling me that he will cook baked apple, I chuckled because we have no oven for baking but he insisted he can use our microwave oven. It was been postponed for many times already but the other night when he is craving for sweets he eventually does it.

Microwave Baked Apple

He took the upper part of the apple and removed the core then add brown sugar and butter inside, and cook it in the microwave for a few minutes until the sugar is all melted. The photo above was the result, I am able to taste after constant bothering him to let me taste his masterpiece. Lol!

New Kitten: Gwiyomi

Meet the new kitten of our family, Gwiyomi.  It was given to my sister by our church mate when she saw my sister carrying one of our kittens and they she was asked if she want another kitten which she said yes and when they returned after the mass they are already carrying a cute orange kitten.

Cute Kitten

It has no name yet so when my sister asked me what’s going to be her name I immediately answered “Gwiyomi”  as it the new trend of music and I think the name fits to her.

Buying Farmland as Investment

My mother informed me that one of our distant neighbor is selling 370 square meter of farmland, it was offered to them for a certain amount. Buying farmland is a good investment but the problem is we have no funds for it, business is slow and we already spend money in the construction of our house.

Farmland

The farmland was not on rush sale so we are hoping that we could save the amount needed so we could buy it before other interested buyers could get it. We are informed that they are selling the small portion of land so they could fix or rebuild their church.

Spicy and Sunflower Hot Fried Chicken from BHC

My husband decided not to eat anymore cheat food on Friday because we are gaining weight but last night we are both craving for fried chicken from BHC (Big Hit Chicken). So I went out to order 마늘 크리스피 치킨 and 양념치킨 – Crispy Garlic Chicken and Spicy Chicken but when I am already few steps at the chicken store I find out I forgot to bring my husband’s wallet. Instead of returning home I decided to continue as I have my wallet on me. I just thought if I return home it will take time and the store might be closed already as it is getting late.

Like the second time I ordered crispy garlic chicken is not available so I end up ordering spicy chicken and the sunflower hot fried chicken -해바라기 후라이드 치킨. I sat down while waiting for my order.

BHC Fried Chicken

I would say BHC chicken is  a way better than other fried chicken in terms of amount of chicken and taste. They are really mouth watering and  tasted good.

Grilled Marinated Steak

We grilled steak last Friday after getting a good deal in the nearby supermarket.  When I am done grilling all the steak for my husband I marinated my steak on soy sauce, salt, sugar and little bit of water , I just add salt on the steak that I am already grilling so it has something to taste.

Grilled Steak

My husband laughed on what I did because the meat should be marinated longer before cooking it but mine is on the spot marination. It didn’t turn bad anyway,  I grilled mine longer too unlike my husband steak which is grilled medium rare.

Vegetable and Chicken Croquette

Eating bread with inside stuff is one of my favorite food to eat so when I saw croquette in Paris Baguette I immediately included two of them on my tray. I bought vegetable and chicken croquette but because we grilled steak I was not able to eat my croquette, I ate them the next day but the chicken croquette gives me a lot acid and made me sick.

Croquette

A croquette is a small breadcrumbed fried food roll, the main ingredients, usually are mashed potatoes and/or ground meat (veal, beef, chicken, or turkey), shellfish, fish, cheese, vegetables and mixed with béchamel or brown sauce, and soaked white bread, egg, onion, spices and herbs, wine, milk, beer or any of the combination thereof, sometimes with a filling, e.g. sauteed onions or mushrooms, boiled eggs.
