Meeting a Friend in Seoul

These past few days I am not that active online anymore, I spend most of my time in the open forum reading stories and problems that’s why most of my blogs are not well updated because of my new habit. I want to go back online, do my task and design the themes but I am not always on the mood, I can’t focus probably because I am still trying to fit here in our new place.

Anyway I am going to the embassy in Seoul this Thursday to renew my passport and I will also make use the time to meet my friend in Seoul it was been a long time since the last time we met, probably two years have been past since our last meeting.

So I’ll be away for the whole day, my biggest problem right now is how to wake up early in the morning because I have to be in Seoul very early for my embassy appointment. I have to take a bus which takes one hour and a subway so I can reach our meeting point.

Smoked Chicken

My husband and I has  new favorite from GS25, that is smoked chicken.  This chicken is more juicy than the chicken drumsticks we usually buy at Gs25.  We just heat it in the microwave and it was ready to eat.

This smoked chicken is cheap than buying the whole chicken in the market and cooked it.

Owning a Dog in an Apartment

It was been one week since we moved to this new apartment, we are on the 4th floor.  There’s really no major problems  aside from the dog owned by the other occupants before us, every time we went out or walked to the elevator the dogs keep barking and sometimes it keeps barking too at night. I didn’t mind it but my husband doesn’t like it because he said it was a big disturbance for someone trying to sleep.

Owning  a pet for apartment dwellers is not sometimes allowed but I guess in this apartment it is fine to own pets. If you are planning to move to a new apartment and you have pets with you consult first your apartment landlord and see the lease agreement before bringing home your dog.

Pizza from GS25

We are already living in a new apartment since we moved last Saturday. Good to hear that there’s GS25 store nearby so when we are hungry in the middle of the night, it would still be easy for us to buy the food we want. Just tonight my husband asked me to buy pizza and ice cream.

When I return to our apartment my husband was disappointed when he saw what I bought. He said I buy too much and spend a lot of money.  So to pacify his anger I pay him the money I have in my pocket, in short I gave him my share.

8 Traditional English Foods Fit For A Royal Wedding

With the royal wedding still fresh in everyone’s mind, it’s no wonder that many couples are using the regal ceremony as inspiration when planning their own special day. While sometimes overlooked, creating a stellar menu is one of the most important steps in ensuring that your wedding is a complete success. If you’re looking for something reminiscent of Will and Kate’s spectacular big day, here are 8 traditional English foods fit for a royal wedding.

Mini Pork Pies with Piccalilli

A fabulous finger food offering, these delicious miniature pork pies are best served golden and warm from the oven for your guests to snack on. Brushing the pastry with a sprinkle of sesame seeds not only looks great, but adds flavour as well. Have a small pot of Piccalilli or your favourite pickles on hand as an accompaniment for the pies, and allow guests to help themselves

Golden Scampi with Creamy Tartare Sauce

Another simple yet classic English favourite is Scampi. Crispy beer battered Scampi is easy for guests to eat, and taste amazing. Teamed with a tangy tartare sauce, this tasty seafood treat is bound to be a hit. Try a tempura batter for a lighter, less traditional twist on the original recipe.

Warming Pea and Ham Soup

Great for in between courses, this traditional soup is easy to make and tastes sensational. Serve while still steaming with a fresh crusty baguette or rustic sliced loaf and a side of butter for a warming winter dish your guests will love.

Beef Wellington

This is a true centrepiece of any special occasion. Mouth-wateringly tender beef fillet wrapped in mushroom duxelle and moist prosciutto, and finally encased in layers of flaky golden puff pastry, the Wellington is a dish everyone will remember. Made famous by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey, it is a challenging dish to prepare, however the result is definitely worth the toil.

Beef, Ale and Parsnip Pudding

When you ask people to think of traditional English fare, this has to be high on the list of responses. A hearty meal, this pudding is a great choice for winter weddings, and is simple to create.

Roasted Autumn Vegetables with Lancashire Cheese

A favourite amongst vegetarians, this colourful dish is simply bursting with flavour. Due to its versatility, this dish can also be served as a side with meat roast, for those who are looking for more than the vegetarian option.

Mini Cherry and Almond Tarts

A cute and tasty take on the traditional Bakewell tarts, these miniature desserts are a great way to finish off a hearty English meal. The perfect combination between pastry and cake, these tangy tarts are light and great for guests with a sweet tooth.

Sugar-Crusted Scones

You can’t have tea without scones, so why not include this English staple in your wedding menu. Homely and versatile, you can serve scones with butter, preserves, or jam and whipped cream. Scones are a simply delightful way to treat your guests to a traditional English favourite.

When planning your menu, make sure to take into consideration the dietary requirements of your guests. A simple way of doing so is to ask on the invitation, and allow guests to respond with their RSVP. While on the subject of wedding invitations, remember to match your printed menus to your initial invite theme for a truly cohesive look.

Moving to Shinha-ri

Few more days and we are going to move, we already visited the new apartment in Shinha the other day.  Sunhee the company director fetch us, so we could see it.  At first glance it look smaller than our apartment here,  if given a choice I would still choose our apartment here in downtown. I already built a bond with our apartment, I love every corner of it.

Our things are already packed and ready to go, this is all what we accumulated in three years leaving in Icheon, when we first arrived in this City from Seoul all we had is one big box and two big bags and now see what we got.

Anyway the good thing of the new apartment  is it is on the 4th floor. No more unexpected visitor because  I just had a little phobia from doorbell sound, but it does not matter anyway if you are not going to be around all day.

Unexpected Visitor

I felt stress on my neck the other night after having unexpected visitor.  My husband and I was sort of busy in front of our laptops when we heard a car with engine on in front of the apartment followed by someone trying to unlock the glass door beside our apartment door and then rang our doorbell. We didn’t mind it because we are already used that our doorbell was always mistaken as doorbell for the main door (for the apartment upstairs).  It was repeated many times followed by knocking on our door and unlocking our door lock too, but as the code was wrong our door remains closed.

My husband asked me to check it, the moment I opened our door I greet the person behind it but I was shock when she stormed inside our apartment, took his shoes off and made her way to our glass sliding door despite of me blocking on her way. I was surprised on her presence so I have asked the unexpected visitor who she was, she replied “(Her name) from Korea”.

Anyway she quickly went inside as if it was her own apartment I help her slide the door so my husband can see her because he is asking who it was, well I thought too it was my husband’s co-teacher and she has an urgent matter or information for my husband. Upon seeing my husband she quickly turn around like how quick she went inside our apartment,  she stumble to the shoes in our door. The funny thing is when she went out she is wearing my husband’s pair of sneaker so I handed her ugg boots to her, she says sorry and I just nod. I closed the door afterwards and I have heard she went to the other door beside ours, so I opened our door a little to see what she is doing.  She knocked to the next door and trying to unlock the door. I thought she was just lost because it happens many times already so I closed our door.

When nobody opens the door for her she went back to the main door, unlocking and banging it. Still no sign that someone will open it for her she went back to our door, rang our doorbell and unlocking our door and then we heard her running quickly out of the apartment building and we heard knocking to other apartment building. My husband says the teenage girl seems to have down syndrome and probably she escaped from their home and now can’t find where it was. I think she already find their home after leaving our apartment building because I didn’t hear banging noise anymore. Though after she left that’s where I felt nervous and stress on my neck. Thinking what if someone with a knife or gun is behind our door when I opened it? So I have told myself I am not going to open the door anymore unless I waiting for my order online.

The next morning someone knock on our door and rang our doorbell and I didn’t open it nor my husband opened it. Then we heard a woman talking on the phone I am not sure if it was the landlady because she sounds like her, probably they saw what happened last night in the CCTV and just want to check or say something.

Give your cat the bed of luxury

Dogs may be man’s best friend but cats are our superiors. They have a way of looking at you with complete disdain but they are also loving and dangerously smart. Don’t underestimate the intelligence of your cat – a lot of them can open doors, get onto roofs and even find their way back to old houses hundreds of miles away. So treat your cats like the wonderful geniuses they are and buy them the best cat bed on earth.

Igloos

It might seem like a strange theory but cats love the idea of igloo beds. It’s probably got something to do with the fact that the bed has a roof on it and cats have a thing for being enclosed. Don’t be surprised if you find yours has burrowed under the bed clothes and snuggled into the duvet when you’re not looking. Hairless cats in particular may feel the cold more so it’s logical that they’d want to be in the warmest place possible.

There’s also the option of tubular beds. These are particularly handy for kittens as their playful nature means they have the option of running around and turning their bed into a playground. An older cat probably has a more dignified nature so put a tube bed near to the cat’s favourite family member to make them feel a bit more secure.

Giant cushions

If you have a cat that doesn’t like to be covered, then this a more practical choice. Cushions make very useful travel beds because they’re easy to just sling in the car, or even rest on the seat. Cats aren’t the biggest fans of travelling so putting a cushion into the cat carrier may help to sooth them slightly on the journey.

If you have the space, put a soft, fluffy cat cushion by the radiator. Older cats in particular will be glad of the extra heat and will enjoy curling up somewhere soft. It may also stop them from pulling your laundry off the radiator, a common problem with some cats. There are some cushion-type beds that can actually be put in the microwave to heat them up. This is fantastic for the colder winter months or the odd chilly day when you don’t want to put the heating on.

Basket-style beds

If you have more than one cat, they may like to snuggle up together. If this is the case, a regular cat bed may not be large enough to fit. They might try to squash themselves in together anyway, but why should they be uncomfortable if you have the option of buying a larger bed? Something without a roof on gives your cats more freedom to move around and get themselves in the perfect position.

Choose something with a quilted fabric to ensure the cats can stay warm. Dog beds don’t tend to have as much padding in them so stick to one designed specifically for felines. There are some on the market that have detachable pillows so one of these is ideal for the winter months. The pillow can then be taken out when the weather improves to keep your cats cool in the warmer weather

Chicken Adobo with Pineapple

I want to try different preparation for my chicken adobo, I remember when I am in grade six in our Home Education class we cooked adobo with pineapple and I like it very much.  I already forgot the name of it but we used spare ribs on that cooking class,  so while we are shopping I have ask my husband if it is okay if I buy can of pineapple circles he agreed so I got one.

Cooking this dish is very easy, just cook adobo the way you cook it and add the pineapple tidbits when it is already boiling.

My Ingredients:

chicken, garlic, onion, cooking oil, soy sauce, vinegar, salt and water

Procedure:

  1. Saute the garlic and onion until brown, add the chicken and mix them together
  2. Add vinegar and boil a little then add soy sauce and water
  3. Let it cooked and when it is already boiling drop the chicken tidbits and a little amount of the juice
  4. Cooked it until you desired, best served with hot cup of rice.
