A Blessed Sunday: How Amazing God’s Words

Yesterday was the last Sunday of the month, and it is National Bible Sunday. The church has foreign visitors too, an older couple. The older woman is well-known missionary who is translating the bible in one of the local dialect of our Province and as what I have heard when she’s introduced by our Pastor that she first arrived in the island in 1980’s and was still single that time so no wonder she spoke the local dialect fluently.

The theme of Philippine Bible Society for National Bible Week celebration is “God’s Word: Hope for the Family and Strength of the Nation” so the scriptural topic is about how amazing God’s Words, it was said God’s word is more precious than gold so it must be desired.

According to Psalms 19: 7-14, the word of the Lord revived us, it enlighten our eyes and lead us to God’s forgiveness. We became energetic and lively through reading the bible and when we read it helps us enlighten our path and see our lives clearly, the bible help us to see and clear us from our hidden faults, it brought us to light from the dark. Pastor E says each time you read the bible you are revived, enlighten, and forgive. All in all you will be bless and in return you will be blessings to others.

When the church service ended the visitors has some goods to sell like bookmarks, key chains and wall decors which are laminated I think the proceeds will go to the  funds needed for translation of the bible to local dialect.

Was Bitten by a Sick Kitten and the Kitten Dies

Adopting kittens in the street is normal to our family. How can you ignore a little kitty looking for warm hands that will pet them so whenever we see abandon kitten we brought them home but lately we seldom find one because we don’t go out too often and if we do, we only go to the market.

Early afternoon I have been searching for “Seungheul” he is one of the kittens we found in the garbage pit a few months ago, my sister named them.  It isn’t normal not to see him around since they usually hang out inside our house or in our porch. It was only late afternoon when my sister found him near our grandmother’s bushes, I picked the kitten and he wasn’t in good condition. He is very weak and can’t really move that much, his body is full of sand as well.

It was a few days ago when I am feeding our cats and Seungheul came home wet and shocked; my theory is he fell in the small irrigation in the field beside us since our cats love to hang-out in the grassy field to catch insects. He probably used all his force so he can go home when he heard me calling for food, and since then he looks a bit sick.

Well, seeing the kitten immobile I decided to buy a small pack of powder milk so I can feed him and the other kittens and when I open his mouth the kitten bit me hard in my thumb, I immediately drop the bowl of milk and run in the faucet to wash the wound and let it bleed. It bleed so much and hurt a lot maybe because I was too nervous since the cat that bit me is sick, and we have no knowledge if it was bitten by snake or have any other disease.  After the cat bit me, he started gasping for air and die within few minutes. I let the wound bleed thoroughly and I rub garlic in it and since I am not contented I put betadine as well.

I wasn’t sure if it is brought by nervousness but I felt feverish, my back felt sore and I felt cold a bit so I sleep early. Little did I know I have two bite marks in my thumb and I only treat one bite mark last night so maybe that’s the reason why I feel so feverish, and it made me worry right now since the kitten dies after biting me but my family teased me that it looks like I have stronger rabies than the kitten.

First Aid for Fresh Bite Wound from Webmd

If there is minor bleeding, the skin is barely broken, and there is no risk of rabies:

  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after treating the wound.
  • Wash the area with mild soap and running water to reduce the risk of infection. Pat dry.
  • Apply antibiotic ointment and cover with a clean bandage or sterile dressing.
  • To reduce swelling, apply an ice pack wrapped in a towel or a cold compress (cloth soaked in cold water) to the bruise for 5-10 minutes.
  • Call your doctor to see if you need to have the bite examined. Always seek medical attention when a child has been bitten in the head.

Vitamin E for Healing Garlic Burns

When a new itchy bump grew up in my left arm I treat it with a new method what I did is tape a part of crushed garlic in it and I did the same thing in my face, it was very relieving but a bit painful. It was very stupid of me not knowing it will leave garlic burns so when the skin turn red and darker in my face, I treated it with coconut oil or coconut oil with turmeric.

Garlic is effective in treating fungal infection as well as killing a pimple but definitely should not be left on longer than a minute or so, but I let the garlic in my face longer than two hours. With a thought that the garlic burns might leave a noticeable scar in my face I search for alternative method and I have found out that vitamin E oil is one of the well-known home remedies for healing skin garlic burns.

Garlic Burns

To do so, you have to cut the vitamin E capsules in half and rub the oil onto the burn, healing won’t happen overnight so you have to do it for a longer period until it heals fully.   Vitamin E has also antibiotic properties that can be helpful in preventing infection.

It was been three days since I am treating the garlic burn in my face and arm with Vitamin E, I have noticed that the inflammation have already subsided but it is still reddish in color.
