Revamping Your Space: Creating a Harmonious Bedroom

The bedroom is more than just a place to sleep; it’s a sanctuary for rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation, and decorating it is an opportunity to create a personal private haven that reflects your sense of taste and style. Perhaps you wish to walk on the wild side with animal print, camo, or zebra bedding, or feel like royalty in a luxurious bed covered with velvet pillows and a satiny spread. Since the bedroom is not a common area like a living room or dining room, you can express yourself through unique décor; with new textiles like bedding, rugs, and window treatments you can change the look of a room in a few minutes.

When you want to update the look of a room it is easy to think about using a new paint or wallpaper – the only problem is that it means a lot of work and can be a huge hassle.  To quickly update the look of a mundane bedroom, consider investing in a new bed ensemble – typically they consist of a quilt or comforter, a bed skirt, and one or two decorative pillow shams. Even if you are not a design maven you can buy with confidence since they were designed perfectly from the bed ensembles, prints, patterns, and colors they coordinate perfectly. You may also wish to consider the simple addition of a padded headboard or a bed canopy – these are easy to install and can highlight the bed.

Choosing the right bed for your bedroom makeover is a crucial step in creating a stylish and functional space. By assessing your needs, exploring various styles, selecting the perfect mattress, and incorporating complementary bedding and accessories, you can transform your bedroom into a comfortable and visually appealing retreat.

If you wake up tired every day it might be because you have a tired foam or older mattress – with proper care good mattresses are designed to last for five to ten years but many people use them far longer.  There are several ways to prolong the life of a mattress; always use a mattress protector to help reduce dirt and dust and keep the actual mattress as clean as possible. Older mattresses should be rotated and turned to even out the wear patterns – this is especially important if one user is far heavier or larger than the other.

If your mattress leaves something to be desired but a new one is not in the budget or if you wish to experience a better night’s sleep, then a mattress enhancer such as a memory foam or feather mattress topper is a great idea. There have been many technological advances with certain styles designed to alleviate motion transfer when one sleeping partner rolls over; others are designed to reduce pressure points and soothe aching muscles. With a new mattress topper, you can get many of the same benefits as those offered by the fancy new pillow top mattresses without needing to actually buy a new mattress.

Many things contribute to facilitating a good nights’ sleep. Experts say you should use the bedroom for sleeping, not as a place to work or even read in bed; the room should be as dark as possible so room darkening shades are often recommended. The room should be quiet and comfortable – you may wish to incorporate some elements of feng shui by strategically placing bathroom, wall and other mirrors throughout the bedroom to make it appear larger and more tranquil.

In Vastu Shastra, an ancient Indian architectural science, the design and placement of the bedroom are considered crucial for ensuring a harmonious living environment. By adhering to Vastu principles, you can create a bedroom that promotes restful sleep, supports well-being, and fosters positive relationships.  A well-designed bedroom according to Vastu can lead to:

  • Improved Sleep Quality: Proper bed placement and a clutter-free environment contribute to better sleep, which is vital for overall health and well-being.
  • Reduced Stress: A harmonious bedroom space helps in reducing stress levels, fostering a sense of calm and relaxation.
  • Enhanced Relationship Harmony: Vastu Shastra suggests that a well-designed bedroom can improve relationships by creating a more balanced and supportive environment.

Designing a bedroom according to Vastu Shastra principles can create a space that supports relaxation, promotes restful sleep, and fosters a harmonious atmosphere. By carefully considering the location, bed placement, color schemes, and use of natural elements, you can enhance the positive energy in your bedroom. While Vastu Shastra offers a valuable framework, the ultimate goal is to create a space that feels personally comforting and conducive to your well-being. Integrating these principles into your bedroom design can lead to a more balanced, peaceful, and fulfilling living environment.

Wooden Shelf – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

There are times I am organized but most of the time I am messy and one fine example are my things as shown below, this is just beside my side of bed where I can just grab the things I need when I am sitting in the floor or in my little chair while doing my task online. As you can see there are boxes where my things are kept, like notebooks, pamphlets, calling cards and some souvenir items. And hey there’s also a small bowl of grapes, I am eating it last night but I was not able to eat them all before I slept., so it was just left there because I hate drinking and eating cold food but I love ice cream, what the heck! My battery charger was also in the floor together with my black backpack and a Missha paper bag, my container of candies, accessories and etc., We have a not so large white cabinet just near the front door but it is full of my junk, plus I don’t like walking by and by when I need something.

Actually Pookie bear had asked me before if I want a metal shelf for my things but I declined his offer, he got one though for his side of bed. You, know the frugal me reasoned out we are just going to waste it because we can’t carry it once we moved.

Yesterday when we are going to gym we found a small wooden shelf in the trash/garbage area (where I took a photo of the sala sets) we didn’t care about it because we usually see shelves better than what we saw.  Going home after gym Pookie bear asked me if I want it, he said its kind of dirty. I said No then Yes and I can clean it so he returned because we are few steps away and carry it. I run home, haha and tease him “garbage picker”. Haha, wala akong utang na loob (inner debt). So I cleaned it last night and let it dry in the balcony as the wood is wet, maybe its been there since last night because it rained until morning. Today when it is already dry, I just glued the outer strips/layer (zoom it and you can see a thumbtacks) it seems the previous owner did not think of using glue/rugby, he use thumbtacks and brown packaging tape to attached it and when we picked it the strips are almost gone but with the help of the thumbtacks and brown packaging at the top it is still attached to the body.

Anyway here’s what my side of bed looks right now, as you can see it is really just beside my bed and looking to my computer screen I am busy dropping EC cards. Maybe you are wondering why the flower is quite far from the Pringle’s container, my camera is situated in the center you can’t just see it because I am using it to take the photo below. The bowl of left over grapes is still there, lol.

I placed it in the corner because it does not look good with the first position (above picture). I think Pookie bear is already annoyed of my messy junk in the floor, I cleaned it but once I need things I can’t return it to proper position as I am quite busy clicking and dropping. He knows I wouldn’t accept a new metal shelf, so he picked the wooden shelf without embarrassment knowing he is white foreigner. Haha, as what he says Reduce, Reuse, Recycle – thank you sweetie! Mwah!
