Strange Day: Seeing Police in the Neighborhood

I went to the bank today to pay the bills, I went at lunch time so there’s only few people especially in the machine. When I return home there’s something strange, I saw a police car in front of our apartment and there’s a middle-aged woman peeping on their gate, I have seen the police in front of a small track  just few meters away from our apartment dunno  what is he doing over there maybe talking to someone.

Korean Police

Didn’t take photo of him I might get arrested (lol) but I managed to took photo of the police car before closing our door.

Today is Gwangbokjeol Here in Korea!

August 15 is a public holiday so we had a long weekend the gym is close too which makes me happy (hehe).  I am not really enjoying the gym these past few days because my back bothers me.

Anyway you might ask what is Gwangbokjeol it literally means “Restoration of Light Day” to make it short its Liberation Day it commemorates Victory over Japan Day, which liberated Korea from colonial rule. The South Korean government was created three years later, on August 13, 1948, when Syngman Rhee was sworn in as the first President of South Korea and Gwangbokjeol was officially designated a public holiday on October 1, 1949.

We’d watched an Indian horror movie a while ago entitled “Haunted” was not able to watch it fully because I am kinda busy blogging.

Dream of Poop: Winning Paypal Money from PostNjoy

There’s an old belief that if you dream a poop it means MONEY, and it happened to me.  Last night or let me say this early morning while I am sleeping I have dreamed of poop, I just tell a brief story of it.  I dreamed of two young pipz, they look like my cousins in Germany but I am not too sure though because in my dream they are not my cousins but kids I need to take care,…the older one wants to use the toilet so I went out the building to give her privacy then after a while I saw her behind the glass looking sad and when I went in, all of her poop is scattered in the floor and in different trashcans in the corner, in my dreams she don’t know how to use the toilet so she throw her poop in trashcans, and it leave marks in the shiny floor (like a foot prints), a lot of it.  So I told her we need to clean it before people came for a meeting, so I  mop it and some people rush in, I am not yet finished though I just finished the first room and a realization came the trashcan has a poop still then I wake up.

Inexpensive Blinds for the Apartment Window

Few months ago my husband and I went to the super market to shop goods for our weekly supplies but before we did, we first went to a store for home supplies and decorations, we are trying to look for blinds for our window but the store is quite big that we almost lost our hope to find one. As we cannot find it we try to look for floor lamps but we all we found are table lamps, so we just walk around passing every shelves and we finally find the window accessories including blinds, hangers and metal pipe  or curtain holders. They have abundant supply of blinds and we try too look for something we are gonna like but the realization came, we don’t  know the size of our window. If we are going to buy,  either we are  going to waste money or be happy if the blinds fit the size of our window, it is hard to gamble and wish for luck so we decided not to buy last night. We walk out the door and went to the supermarket to shop our food supplies.

I am trying to find the tape measure on my bag as what I have remembered I brought one here when I left my home country but I can’t find it, wish to find it soon so we can buy blinds for our window. It is quite disturbing  when the light in the garage is on.

Korean Street Food: Tteokbokki

There are times I am curious to food here in Korea, so the other day after shopping, when I passed along the student canteens across the elementary school, I return a little bit and decided to step in one canteen/food store and ordered a cup of Tteokbokki. Oh well I did great because I was able to pay the right amount, haha!

Tteokbokki, also known as Ddeokbokki is a popular Korean snack food which is commonly purchased from street vendors or Pojangmacha. Originally it was called tteok jjim and was a braised dish of sliced rice cake, meat, eggs, and seasoning. Tteok jjim an early variant of modern tteokbokki, was once a part of Korean royal court cuisine. This type of tteokbokki was made by boiling tteok, meat, vegetables, eggs, and seasonings in water, and then serving it topped with ginkgo nuts and walnuts. In its original form, tteokbokki, which was then known as gungjung tteokbokki, was a dish served in the royal court and regarded as a representative example of haute cuisine. The original tteokbokki was a stir-fried dish consisting of garaetteo ( cylinder-shaped tteok) combined with a variety of ingredients, such as beef, mung bean sprouts, green onions, shiitake mushrooms, carrots, and onions, and seasoned with soy sauce.

Buying Green Peas at Icheon Public Market

Last week when I went out to buy something for home, Pookie bear told me to look for beans in Kim’s Club but before going to the supermarket  I decided to walk in the town market to see if there’s beans, I saw an old woman selling something like beans so after going to Kim’s Mart to buy some supplies I return to the place where I saw the old woman, I don’t have a plan to buy but the way the old woman looks like she is so sad and lonely, like business is not good that day as I don’t see anyone stopping and buying something, so I stop in her front and pointed the beans which is green peas by the way and asked how much, she said “Samcheon” but as I don’t know how to speak Korean and I cannot understand anything, I gave him 5,000 won ($4.62) , then asked her if it is enough or right, I don’t know if she understand me or not but she wave her hand like telling me its okay and I can go away now, anyway as I am not really sure I waited for few seconds  to give me change but as what I can see she slowly put the money so I said to myself maybe I have no change, so I walked out and she never called me to give a change or something.

Photobucket

When I reached home, I feel like the green peas is quite expensive for 5, 000 won so I went to Google translator and translate the monetary amount English to Google, and there I found out Samcheon is 3,000 won ($2.77). Lol! Then Pookie bear who just came out from the bathroom asked me what did I bought. I said I bought a green peas aside from the items he told me to buy, he gets little angry as I didn’t follow our rules again not to buy items not on the list, he added he told to look for beans and not buy green peas,  I replied I feel pity at the old woman so I bought something to her.  He asked me how much is it, I told him the woman says “Samcheon” but I gave her 5,000 won. He laughed after hearing it and says I feel pity but the old woman ripped me off, lol.

To make it short, I pay for the green peas from my allowance he don’t want to shoulder it as it is my fault and it is not in the list and I am the one who bought it and I am the one who will eat it.  So I eventually paid, I didn’t think any bad thoughts about the money but had a slight thoughts that maybe she really ripped me off, anyway I just told myself maybe the old woman thought what I am saying to her is, I am giving her a tip as we cannot understand each other. So next time I guess I should learn how to say to numbers, price, amount in local language. Anyway as the Bible says if you do good things to others God will bless you it means  it is a good Karma but I don’t know if I do a good thing,  I feel blessed these past few days, I  am quite busy designing WordPress Theme, I got a direct advertiser on my site and now I have a page rank.  Thank you Lord!

Korean Street Food: Sweet Corn

I am not active in blogosphere lately,  sort of busy and I have nothing to post, the ironic thing is when I am out of blogging world I have so many ideas on my mind to blog but once I log-in and plan to blog, nothing is left. Either I am empty on idea or it feels like it is worthless to share or to blog.

Jezz, few days ago I am craving for corn because it was a long time ago since I ate corn. I am craving because I always see corn in the food place near the gym so one day I bought  one packed for 3,000 won about 3 dollars maybe, imagine how expensive is it, in Philippines I can buy a bunch of corn with that money but the fact I am not in the Philippines  I have to eat the corn to the fullest..Haha!

Paris Baguette Walnut Pound Cake

Today pookie bear arrived with a blue paper bag from Paris Baguette on his hand, so I am thinking what’s the occasion upon seeing it but I can’t recall anything so I’ve asked him where the present came from. One of the parents of his student gave it to them, because yesterday some of the parents visit the class to observe. When I opened it I found a cake, a Walnut Pound cake to be exact. Pookie bear says it is all mine because he won’t eat it, he is still on diet. Lucky me!

Paris Baguette Walnut Cake

I forgot about this cake until I told him it is cold then he asked me if I turn on the heater I said Yes, he asked me again if I already ate, I replied No. He said I need to eat to make me warm, but I answered I am lazy I have no time to eat. That’s where the time I saw the blue paper bag then I remember this cake, so while writing this post I am eating walnut pound cake with a mocha coffee to drink. The cake taste good, yummy it is sweet but not too much I love the walnut on it. You want some?

Anyway Paris Baguette is one the most popular bakery here in Korea. There is one or more in every corner of a town. There bread and cakes are excellent , they sell everything from bread and donuts, to extravagant cakes and cookies. The price depends on the size and what it is made of, since I arrived here in Korea Paris Baguette is the bakery we trust even thought sometimes we went to a French Bakery which also offer yummy cakes.

Made to Measure Pleated Blinds for the Apartment Window

I have nothing to complain here in our new apartment aside from our window doesn’t have any curtains at all. So it’s bright here in the morning and in the evening because the garage is just beside us. The window too is facing our bed so I don’t know if people can see us here from outside, the glass window has an art style and thick too. So I guess they can’t see us inside on what we are doing except if they really intended to peep.

My husband and I is planning to buy a curtain but the problem is we don’t know how to wear it in our window without making a big fuss on it plus to tie it every morning, so as we looking for a perfect curtain online we have found that there is  made to measure pleated blinds that make us change our minds. Blinds are easy to manage than heavy curtains you can just pull the string if you want to fold it and for sure you cannot make blinds as wiping cloth for hands like what is it usually done in  curtains when someone is lazy to look for a dry cloth.  The good thing pleated blinds has also a selection of colors and  I can’t wait to have one maybe creamy white will be just right.
